Classic Cheesecake

Here’s my take on the Classic Cheesecake.  I already tested this recipe for the first time last month and I was planning to photograph it but it didn’t come out as pretty as I hoped it would be.  However, the taste was uber yummy and so I made it again.  This time, with no mishaps.

Classic Cheesecake

This recipe is a modified version of Food Network’s Sunny Anderson (Cooking for real).

Ingredients

for the cheesecake

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

6-8 tbsp butter, melted

4 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

1 1/4 cups sugar

4 eggs beaten

1 tbsp vanilla extract

for the sour cream topping

2 cups sour cream

1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

Directions

Heat oven to 325 degrees F.

In a food processor blend crumbs and melted butter until moist, not wet.

Press into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch springform pan.

Using an electric mixer, combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until light and smooth.  Slowly mix in eggs then pour into the prepared pan.

Bake for 55 minutes or until the center sets.  Turn off oven and remove cake.

In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, sugar, and vanilla.  Spread the sour cream mixture over the top of the cheesecake and return the pan to the warm oven for 30 minutes.  Do not turn on the oven.

Remove pan from oven and cool to room temperature before removing from pan.

Garnish with fruits or chocolate syrup.

Enjoy.

    Z, this cheesecake looks really really yummy! I like the idea of sourcream topping because I usually find cheesecake too rich, and I love the idea of using graham crust. The fist time I made cheesecake with no crust, it leaked out of the springform pan; I got discouraged and never tried again. This recipe encourages me again to make one. Maybe one of these days…

    hahaha try it Manang! I’m sure you will not have any mishaps this time! :) The first time I tried making cheesecake, i used a different cheesecake recipe and it was a disaster! I also tried a no0bake cheesecake recipe and it was also a disaster! :) This time I got lucky :D hehehehe
