Road to Nowhere

Doesn’t it look like we’re in the middle of nowhere? Technically, we were in the middle of nowhere. This shot was taken at the Manzanar National Historic Site at the foot of the Sierra Nevada in Owen’s Valley, California. This site is widely known as a relocation camp of 110,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. This place was termed a War Relocation site by the US Government but many compare it to the Nazi concentration camps.
An interesting tidbit: THE Ansel Adams visited the site in 1943-1944 and published the book “Born Free and Equal: The Story of Loyal Japanese-Americans” containing photographs of his visit.

Yay! love that first shot so much, the mountain looks like it came from a painting, and this is why I love shots of roads, pathways…it’s so mysterious to where everything ends up.
